“Confidence isn’t found by waiting—it’s built through action.”
— Michael J. Pope Jr.
Recognized for helping high-achieving professionals break free from hesitation, take bold action, and turn intention into meaningful results.
When Traditional Success Is No Longer Enough
For more than two decades, Michael J. Pope Jr. built a successful career in information technology.
On paper, he had achieved many of the things people associate with professional success. But over time, Pope began recognizing something technology alone could not solve.
Many of the greatest challenges he saw in the workplace weren’t really technology problems.
They were people problems.
Communication. Leadership. Confidence. Decision-making. Growth. And sometimes, the hesitation that keeps capable people from taking the next step.
That realization eventually led Pope toward a new mission—one he describes as moving from software developer to people developer.
It would become the foundation for the next chapter of his career.
Turning Personal Growth Into Professional Purpose
Pope pursued extensive training in leadership, communication, human behavior, and performance, including advanced certification through Maxwell Leadership and training in Neuroencoding.
His commitment eventually took him beyond being a student and into leadership, faculty, and teaching roles.
Today, Pope is a Maxwell Leadership Executive Director and certified speaker, trainer, and coach. He also holds credentials in Neuroencoding, DISC behavioral analysis, and virtual presenting.
In 2021, he received a John Maxwell Culture Award, an honor awarded to ten recipients from a community of more than 35,000 coaches across 160 countries.
But credentials tell only part of his story.
The deeper transformation was learning how to turn decades of technical and corporate experience into something that could help people move forward.
From “The Coach’s Tech Guy” to “The Hesitation Breaker”
For years, Pope became known affectionately as “The Coach’s Tech Guy,” helping coaches, leaders, and organizations use technology without becoming overwhelmed by it.
It was a natural fit for someone who understood both the technical world and the human side of learning.
But his work continued to evolve.
After years of working with leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs, Pope began focusing more deeply on a pattern he repeatedly encountered: hesitation.
Capable people often know what they need to do. They have experience, ideas, goals, and opportunities in front of them.
Yet overthinking, uncertainty, fear of making the wrong decision, or waiting for the “perfect” moment can keep them from moving.
Today, Pope describes himself as The Hesitation Breaker, helping high-achieving professionals move beyond that cycle and take purposeful action. His speaking and training focus on breaking hesitation, developing productive habits, building momentum, and turning decisions into execution.
Building a Framework for Action
Pope’s work is not simply about telling people to “take action.”
He has developed practical frameworks designed to help people understand what is keeping them stuck and create a repeatable path forward.
His DO-ER Framework focuses on moving people from intention to execution by replacing hesitation with disciplined, focused action.
That philosophy is also reflected in his message to high achievers: confidence does not necessarily arrive before action.
Often, confidence is created because we act.
It is a lesson Pope has lived himself.
A self-described natural introvert, he ultimately moved from a career behind the technology to speaking on stages and helping audiences around the world develop the courage and tools to move forward.
DO-ERs Win The Day

Pope has expanded that message through his work as an author.
His book, DO-ERs Win The Day, explores the mindset mistakes that can keep high achievers stuck and the habits that can help them move beyond hesitation and create consistent progress.
The book extends the message he brings to his keynotes, workshops, and coaching: transformation requires more than inspiration.
It requires action.
For Pope, becoming a “DO-ER” isn’t about constant motion or doing more simply for the sake of being busy. It is about recognizing hesitation, making intentional decisions, and developing the habits necessary to follow through.
Bringing Technology and Human Performance Together
Although Pope’s work has expanded significantly beyond technology, his decades of IT experience remain an important part of what makes his perspective distinctive.
He understands what it feels like to work in rapidly changing environments where new tools, systems, expectations, and demands can easily become overwhelming.
Rather than abandoning that background, he has integrated it into his work with people.
Technology may change the tools we use.
Leadership determines how we use them.
And human behavior often determines whether knowledge ever becomes action.
That intersection—technology, leadership, behavior, and execution—continues to shape Pope’s work with professionals and organizations.

A Mission Built Around Moving Forward
At the heart of Pope’s work is a simple but powerful idea:
People are capable of more when they stop waiting for the perfect moment to begin.
His own journey—from IT professional to educator, coach, author, and international speaker—reflects the transformation he now encourages in others.
Success, in his story, was not about discarding everything he had built.
It was about recognizing that the skills developed in one chapter of life could become the foundation for something larger in the next.

We continue learning. We continue growing. And, as Pope’s work reminds us, eventually we have to take what we’ve learned and do something with it.
